The 1024 Movement
Our name is inspired by the statistic that suicide is the second leading cause of death in 10-24 year olds. We hope to significantly change this!
Hey everyone –
I’m Christy Pierce, mom of 3 teens, author of the book Shut Up, and right now I am stuck in my house in California on Day 15 of mandatory shelter-at-home. UGH! We are trying to make the best of it doing puzzles, Door Dash and yes, too many video games But we are also having some hard days. My daughter Annie is a senior and given the pandemic, she will never have a senior dance, trip or graduation ceremony. Annie will have to pick a college without ever having visited it because of the travel ban. Benji and Corey are sick of online school and miss their friends. The COVID-19 news reports are depressing and scary watching the death statistics rising. Like our family, maybe you are also wondering, “When will the coronavirus pandemic ever end and how do we keep going?”
All over the country, teens and college students are telling us that they are experiencing everything from anxiety, depression, fights with parents, loneliness and fear about the future. Whatever you are facing, we want to encourage you that you are not alone. We care about your pain and we are here for you. See below to see videos of other teens sharing their pandemic stories. We would love to pray for you so please send prayer requests to:info@sayshutup.com. Please click Find Help to see our resource page with links to online counseling, 24-hour prayer hotlines, mental health resources and inspirational God stories that will build your faith. We would also love to give you a FREE electronic copy of my books, Shut Up: Silence the Negative Thoughts inside Your Head and God is Whispering to You which will teach you how to hear God’s voice about the things that matter to you.
God loves you more than you can possibly imagine. God is with you and will help you get through this coronavirus pandemic and into the good, hopeful future ahead for your life.
With blessings and hugs,
Christy
